After a series of violent storms ravaged the Eastern US on Tuesday evening, two people died, many homes and businesses lost their roofs and motorists were left stranded.
In Florence, Alabama, a 28-year-old man died after being struck by lightning in a parking lot Monday. The authorities haven’t identified him.
Evan Christopher Kinley was killed by a falling tree outside the home of his grandparents in Anderson County, South Carolina.
After severe storms knocked down power lines on Route 140 in Westminster (Maryland), dozens were stuck in their cars up to 5 and a 1/2 hours.
Drivers waited hours as crews de-energized the power lines.
Jeffrey Campbell was trapped for several hours by live wires when a utility pole fell onto his truck as he drove home. A live wire on his left side shattered his rear view mirror.
He said, “Poles keep falling after each other.”
The police reported that 33 adults and fourteen children were saved. There were no reported injuries.
