The remnants left by Typhoon Haikui caused floods in China’s coastal province of Fujian. At least 2 people were killed, and thousands had to be evacuated.
The Fuzhou fire department posted on social media that schools were closed, flights suspended and more than 30 000 people were relocated. Fuzhou firefighters posted on Facebook that 2 firefighters had died, 1 policeman was missing and a floodwater carried away a vehicle on rescue missions.
Haikui, which hit Taiwan early in the week as a Typhoon, caused dozens of injuries and thousands of people to be without power. As it approached Fujian in China, Haikui weakened into a tropical storm but brought with him record levels of rain.

Haikui, which hit the island early on Tuesday morning, is predicted to bring rains until at least Friday.
