The downtown Lexington restaurant with the white tablecloths will have to shut down for a second year in a row, and this time it’s just before dining season. According to Carlo Vaccarezza, owner of La Folie in The Woodlands Building on Main Street at 111 Woodland Ave., it will close again due to unexpected repairs.
The restaurant’s floors have been damaged by more water. A pipe that burst over night and caused damage to the restaurant’s flooring forced it to close temporarily. The restaurant reopened late in July. Six months after the leak on the 9th of November, the restaurant is closing for repair.
Vaccarezza stated that the floor would need to be completely replaced. Vaccarezza confirmed on Friday that they are still operating the restaurant while waiting for their insurance claim to be approved. He said that the repairs might take up to two months.
In September 2022 the restaurant will open, serving French classics in a romantic and cozy atmosphere. Vaccarezza also owns Thoroughbred racing horses and Frank & Dino’s Italian Restaurant on West Short Street, in downtown Lexington.
The restaurant is still open, serving dinner at Thanksgiving. Vaccarezza recently opened Damiano Lexington, 503 S. Upper St. serving beer, pasta and pizza. La Folie in Kentucky has a popular private dining room with horse owners and breeders for the November Breeding Stock Sale held at Keeneland. This room is often used for events and holiday parties.
