A blast caused the destruction of their roof, fireplace, boiler, and electrical supply. Bricks also crashed into their car.
One couple was lucky to escape when a bolt of lightning hit their home minutes after leaving. This caused the roof to collapse, the boiler blew up and the electricals to fry. Ring doorbell cameras captured the electricity that shot through the home just four minutes following the couple’s lunch break.
They were also able to damage their car and the chimney. A homeowner who refused to give his name said that they had “made a lucky getaway”. If we were still in the house, I cannot imagine what might have happened.
“We are both still stunned. Damage is extensive; three large holes have been punched in the roof. Structural damage has also occurred around the doorframes.
It’s hard to say when electricity and gas will be restored because the damages are so severe. We’ll probably be forced to evacuate and this could take several weeks.
“Our neighbour also suffered damage to his electrical equipment and boiler due to this strike. “Bricks from the fireplace also fell onto our car.”
