After a body found in the restaurant in Bolton that had caught fire a week ago, a criminal investigation has been launched.
On November 27, police and emergency services responded to Bolton Road, Farnworth following a report of a fire at the Lime Tree Restaurant.
Five fire engines, including special units, were mobilized to fight the fire that broke out during the afternoon.
Bolton Road, between St Peter’s Way near its intersection and Gladstone Road, was closed all afternoon.
Police have since entered the building in order to make sure that it is safe. They believe that the floor on which the fire began may have served as a marijuana farm.
Police said that a criminal investigation was underway following the discovery of a dead body yesterday (22/12/23) at a property on Bolton Road, Farnworth in Bolton after an fire.
The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and Greater Manchester Police were called at around 1pm to investigate the reports of fire on Saturday, November 23.
Since then, the efforts to ensure the safety of the building and determine the cause have continued.
The investigation is still ongoing, but it’s believed the fire started on the ground floor. Early indications indicate that this building may have served as a marijuana farm.

Fire spread out of the restaurant and onto the roof an adjacent house.
At least eight fire engines and one firefighter were present at the scene.
Around 3.30pm the fire seemed to be under control. A lot of tiles had been taken off the roof.
The policeman on the scene confirmed that they were present to assist with firefighting. Paramedics and firefighters were both also in attendance.
