The owner of a condominium in Samut Prakarn, near Bangkok, shot and killed a roofer because he did not like the style.
Officers from the Bang Sao Thong Police Station rushed to the site of the shooting in a pool room on Soi Thai Prakan 2, Samut Prakarn Province. One man was found dead, and another wounded by the officers.
A 54-year old Thai man named Somporn Sitadee was found dead in the parking lot of the pool hall. Meanwhile, a 53-year old victim Prakorb Sitadee had been injured and taken to hospital.
Somporn was shot in the right eye, left leg, and back. Four bullet casings were found near the body of Somporn.
The police were able, after reviewing CCTV footage from the pool hall, to identify Akkaraphon as a 56-year-old man. Akkaraphon was wearing white shorts and a tank top as he entered the pool hall.
After a long argument, Akkaraphon pulled out his gun and shot Somporn. Akkaraphon drove off, got the keys for his pickup from his condo and left.
Police were informed by witnesses at the pool room that Akkaraphon owns a condominium across the street from the pool. Somporn was Akkaraphon’s former employee, but quit in order to launch his own construction business.
Akkaraphon had hired Somporn to renovate the condo several times, but a disagreement arose after a roof renovation. Akkaraphon had complained to Somporn before the violence that the roof was not built according to his design. Somporn said that he had been following orders from Akkaraphon’s wife.
The argument between Akkaraphon, Somporn and others escalated to the point of shooting. Akkaraphon was described by witnesses as always being aggressive and firing shots in the air whenever he became angry.
Akkaraphon has now fled the scene.
Samut Prakarn officers and those in the surrounding provinces have reported that they keep a close eye on his pickup and bronze color. It is not known what the make of vehicle and its registration number are.
