In the San Bernardo commune, five vehicles were damaged by a large roof that fell. There were no reported injuries. The fall was a metal structure on a private paid parking lot in Prat Street with Freire.
Witnesses claim that a strong wind would have caused the incident. The structure was too unstable with its base and rose, then fell onto the cars. Firefighters worked on the scene in order to lift the structure. The collapsed structure made it impossible for the vehicles to be moved.
This resulted in some cars being locked and their owners unable to get them out. Jose Maldonado was the San Bernardo Fire Department’s commander on the scene. He explained that some of the vehicles had been damaged.
According to initial information, the damage caused by these vehicles was of varying magnitudes. Around 20-30 cars were also trapped in the parking area for almost three hours.
