Vandals have left their unwelcome mark around San Miguel de Jaen. A neighborhood in the Old Town of the City where works are being done to adapt and beautify it. The Edusi plan was initiated during the last municipal mandate, when PSOE and Cs were in power. Antonio Losa, the current Councilor for Citizen Security, Conservation and Municipal Infrastructure of Jaen (PP) shows “maximum reject” and is “even more so in historical cases of the city, especially in the vicinity of the San Miguel church, where beautification work in this area are being done under the Edusi Strategy.
As the council reminds us, the works for improving the Plaza de San Miguel are part of Edusi, which is co-financed by Feder funds. They have an investment amounting to 396,000 euros, which promotes a holistic intervention in different urban spaces such as Lavanderas Streets, Cuesta de San Miguel y San Miguel, Plaza de Santo Domingo, etc.
The vandalism in this case is very harmful because it is a highly porous surface. It will take a great deal of effort to remove it and this is not only a human task but also a financial one. For this, the Mayor made an appeal to Jaen’s citizens, saying that the city is everyone’s and they should be taking care of it and avoiding acts of vandalism which do nothing to improve the reputation of Jaen.
